Imagine you arrive in a new country, full of hope, but unable to speak the language so communication is extremely limited and hard. You can’t find a job, talk to your children’s teachers, have an appointment with a GP without a translator present. Your life becomes very closed and limited. This is the reality for many refugees and migrants.
This is why teaching English to refugees and migrants
is not just important—it’s life-changing.
So this becomes our why for committing to provide a weekly term-time English Language Club. We see the daily difference it has made and continues to make. But we can’t meet the growing need, your donation today will be matched through our Aviva Community Fund project and you can gift aid it too!
Help Us Meet The Demand
So far in 2024 we have had 91 attendees to the classes with 23 children being looked after in our creche whilst their parents are in the class. Without childcare on site, parents were not able to attend, so no one is excluded.
We have been able to support two-thirds of attendees with travel to the class to overcome this obstacle and increase attendance.
At the time of writing this, we have 33 people on the waiting list to join the English Language Club at KAP.
