Refugee Employability Specialist

Hours: 24 hours per week (3 days)

Contract type: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Salary: £27,540.00 PRO RATA

Location: 56 Harpur Street, Bedford, with some additional travel to clients homes across Bedfordshire

About the Role
Are you passionate about helping others achieve their career goals? We are developing our services, and seeking a dedicated and dynamic Employability Specialist to join our Refugee and Migrant Services team. You will work engage with a caseload of Resettled Refugees supporting individuals in overcoming barriers to employment and learning. You will play a key role in empowering clients with the skills, confidence, and tools they need to secure sustainable work or training opportunities.
Note: Due to the requirements of the job to undertake home visits, the successful applicant will hold a full UK Driving Licence, and have access to a car to use for work purposes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting employment advice sessions.
  • Support clients with CV writing, job applications, interview preparation, and career planning.
  • Build strong relationships with local employers, training providers, and referral partners.
  • Track client progress and outcomes, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative employability programmes and resources.
About You
  • Proven experience in employability, careers advice, coaching, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of the local labour market and employment support services.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., IAG Level 3 or above) is desirable but not essential.

Winter Nightshelter Daytime Operations Coordinator

Hours: 30 hours per week, 9am-3pm, Monday to Friday (open to discussion for flexible options)

Start Date: Monday 3rd November 2025

End Date: Friday 13th March 2026
Contract type: Fixed Term Contract

Winter can be the toughest time for our homeless community, putting lives at risk and increasing a sense of isolation.  Following the success of the last two years providing this service, we are planning the 2025/2026 Bedford Winter Night Shelter to offer a vital place for our homeless community to find a warm, safe place to stay.

This role is vital to the success of the Winter Night Shelter. You will organise and lead the incredible teams of volunteers to provide the service.  The volunteer teams will make meals, serve meals, clean and tidy, and help guests to access their sleeping arrangements for the night, as well as offer a space for friendship and community. Throughout the daytime, you will ensure the smooth running of the building and facilities needed to make the shifts run as smoothly as possible.   You will provide the primary contact to all volunteers, and will be a fundamental link between the shift teams and Outreach team who support the guests through the day.

Tenancy Support Officer

Hours: 40 hours per week

Terms: Permanent

Salary: £26,520 per annum

Benefits: Pension Scheme, Life Insurance, Employee Discount App, 25 Days Annual leave, with an additional 5 days Annual Leave for being on the On-call rota once Probation Period is successfully passed.

Location: Bedford Town Centre based, but working in different locations

Due to expanding our successful Supported Accommodation services, we are looking to recruit someone to join our team providing excellent and progressive tenancy support for our clients. We work with clients to develop independence, choice and control, with a view to enabling them to live independently in their own individual tenancy. With relevant training, supervision, and support, we expect you to provide a client-focused service in line with the vision, ethos, values and mission of the King’s Arms Project.

ESOL Creche Assistant (Fixed Term)

Hours:  21hrs per week (term time only) Mon-Thurs, 9:30-14:30 plus one hour per week for meetings

Terms: Permanent

Salary: Hourly rate £12.21 plus holiday pay

Contract: This role is a fixed term contract (Sept 25-July 26,  for 39 weeks)

Our ESOL service was established in 2017 and now runs 5 days per week and offers English lessons for resettled refugees and an English Club with an emphasis on learning skills for integration into UK society. We are a growing team of ESOL tutors and creche teams providing training to help refugees and their families to resettle in Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire.

About the Role

The Creche Nursery Assistant is a childcare professional involved in the day-to-day running of the Crèche for English Learners. You perform an important role caring or children, maintaining a high quality, stimulating learning environment.

We are seeking someone who is creative, reflective and able to implement new ideas to continually improve practice and support the management team. Staff meetings will take place outside of creche opening hours.

This role is split between our sites in Shefford and Bedford subject to service need.

Due to the post being based in two locations, it is essential for the successful applicant to have a full UK Driving Licence and access to a car.
